Siddha and Ayurvedic Medicine for Autism Spectrum Disorder

Autism Spectrum Disorder refers to complex developmental disability which is usually appear during the childhood. Usually the children affected with ASD exhibit the following symptoms such as social impairment and repetitive behavior. The national institute of child health and human development have listed five behaviors which should be observed and may require further evaluations when found in the child. The five behaviors are as follows:

  • If the infant does not coo or babble by 12 months.
  • If the infant does not gesture like point, wave or grasp by 12 months.
  • If they does not say single words by 16 months.
  • If  they does not say tw0-word phrase on his or her own by 24 months.
  • If they have loss of any language or social skills at any age.

These symptoms alone does not confirm autism yet it warrants the need for further clinical evaluations.

In the present scenario there are various ailments and disorders which are more similar to autism but clinically different. Therefore it is important to diagnose the disorder rightly and proceed with its treatments. Following are few of the disorders which are similar to autism. They are congenital rubella syndrome, down syndrome, fragile x syndrome, etc.
