Nothing could ever replace the joy of becoming a parent. Regrettably, not every couple can have this privilege. Some of them are infertile, this means that they have been trying to get pregnant for more than a year but have failed.
The woman is often diagnosed to have infertility. There are numerous reasons for this affliction but more than half show that the main cause pinpoints to the woman’s condition. Other factors come from the man’s side, like low sperm count or low sperm motility and even for unknown medical reasons. A point to consider is that menstruation should be regular as a norm in order for the woman to get pregnant. One of the conditions that can decrease the chances for pregnancy is ovulation challenges. Other accounts like tubal ligation, blocked tubes and uterus related problems could also be the hindering factor and makes a woman infertile.
As women age, this contributes to her ability to bear children. The younger the woman, the better chances for childbearing. Women who are older have fewer healthy eggs and this meant lesser chance of successful conception. Additional female conditions like PCOS. STDs and other uterine ailments could lead to infertility.
Conditions like PID or pelvic inflammatory disease is also a cause for infertility. PID is scarring left in the uterus due to an untreated STD, usually gonorrhea or Chlamydia. Because of PID, the fallopian tubes are affected and bad bacteria gets through, making its way to the rest of the reproductive system. On a positive note, once treated, the woman can get pregnant once more either through natural method or through artificial methods like IVF.
The dreaded PCOS or polycystic ovarian syndrome is one of the most serious causes of infertility because it affects the hormones of the body. It creates irregularities in the woman’s ovulating cycle. This results to women becoming unable to ovulate normally. What is encouraging is that PCOS can be treated with Metformine, a drug that moderates the PCOS effect by enabling the body to absorb insulin to fix the hormone levels in the system.
The hormonal level of a couple is frequently monitored since this is an essential factor when they are trying to conceive. The reproductive organs in our body as well as the endocrine system, produces our body’s hormones. Any sickness related to these systems can most probably lead to infertility.
A couple’s lifestyle must change if they want to get pregnant. Giving up smoking and excess drinking even before trying to conceive is best. Use of illegal substances, multiple partners which can cause STDs and fluctuating weight must be avoided. A proper diet, good exercise and monogamy is a healthy way to prepare one’s body for pregnancy.
Trying to have a baby can be a source of stress and constant worry to the couple. Doctors can only do so much to treat the couple but if there are instances that the root cause of the infertility is unknown, this case may be labeled as unexplained fertility. Sometimes, the easiest solution to the problem is the one we overlook. Relaxing and trying not to try so hard to get pregnant could do the trick. Let nature run its course and soon, a miracle can be on the way.
