What is Skinny Fat and Why Should You Worry About It?

It’s possible that you can be thin but still be facing all the unehalthy factors of being obease. It’s called skinny fat and it’s something you need to know about. Hopefully more and more people, especially women will start to learn more about it and know you are going to see what being skinny fat is all about.

Skinny fat is when you appear skinny or thin, but you have so little lean muscle mass that you’re body is most unhealthy body fat. So you can think about it as the ratio of body fat to lean muscle is the opposite of what it’s supposed to be. This makes you just as likely to get all those terrible diseases that come with obesity.

It sounds really confusing because how does somebody become skinny fat? It’s a great question and the answer can be boiled down to one thing… doing only cardio and dieting with zero resistance training. Here’s how this works…

When you diet, cut calories… and if you’re like most people you cut too many calories, your body actually starts to hoard fat because it goes into starvation mode. Body fat is an energy source that is easier to store so your body begins packing on fat and burning muscle for energy. When you exercise only with cardio, you are not building any lean muscle and the same thing begins to happen.

Your body gets so efficient at the cardio exercise you’re doing that it will start to pack on more fat because it’s easier to store and burn muscle. Losing muscle is the worst thing you can do to your body and when your metabolism goes down, not only do you store more fat, but you also lose tons of energy and that makes it harder to workout.

The solution to this problem besides changing your diet is to use the right exercises to lose weight. As a women you might be nervouse about weigh training or resistance training, but you have no choice and you also may not know how great it makes you feel. Weight training helps you eat more calories and burns those calories as well and that makes you happier and much more healthy. So there is no other way around the fact that you need to have a trainer get your the right exercises to lose weight.
